Writing Your Vows

Now that you are nearing the final stages of planning your wedding, here are a few point to help you outline your vows when writing them down ::

1) Ten words that describe your partner.

2) Ten words that describe your relationship.

3) A time when you both laughed so much that you cried.

4) A time when you were unhappy and your partner was there for you.

5) How you felt when you first realized you were in love with your partner.

6) A short paragraph picturing your life together in 30 years' time.

7) The names of any poems or readings you like, and what in particular appeals to you about them.

8) Any song lyrics that reflect how you feel about your relationship.

9) What marriage means to you.

10) If relevant, what having a family means to you.

11) Note down any "theme" that recur, these may relate to a second marriage, getting married later in
life, a particular event that has shaped your life together, or even your jobs.

I hope the exercise above will help you work out what you want to say in your vows.
